A breast enlargement can be performed using a prosthesis or with lipofilling. The choice of a specific technique depends on your wishes, the advice of the surgeon as well as your expectations. A combination of both is also possible; this is called hybrid breast enlargement.

In the past 20 years, the most significant development in breast enlargement has not come from one specific implant or technique. The progress is mainly due to surgeons who meticulously create the space for the prosthesis, carefully manipulate the tissues, choose a specific implant, and actually perform the breast enlargement tailored to the patient.
The impact of a breast prosthesis.
A breast implant is a foreign material. The human body responds to it with an inflammatory reaction, resulting in a layer of scar tissue forming around the implant (also known as capsule formation). The quality of implants has greatly improved, with fewer inflammatory reactions in the long term. Always keep in mind that an implant is not lifelong . The average lifespan is 10 to 15 years. The larger the implant, the greater the impact on the surrounding tissues (more pressure). More pressure means that tissues can thin out in the long term. Always try to achieve a natural result where the implant actually plays a supporting role . If the implant plays the leading role, the breast can look artificial and unnatural.

When do I choose a breast prosthesis or lipofilling?
Breast enlargement with prosthesis.
A prosthesis is placed when one desires a significant increase in breast volume. With one procedure, one can increase breast volume, improve breast projection, and naturally define the décolletage. The desire to go at least one cup size larger drives the choice for a breast prosthesis. This can be combined with lipofilling; this is called the hybrid breast augmentation. A hybrid breast augmentation offers the best of both worlds: an immediate increase in volume and better breast projection, while injecting as much of one's own fat tissue as possible to make the breast look more natural and add volume.

Voordat men een borstvergroting met eigen vetweefsel overweegt, moeten enkele voorwaarden worden vervuld. Er moet voldoende vetweefsel aanwezig zijn en een gezonde levensstijl worden gehandhaafd. Ook moet men rekening houden met een tweede sessie als een aanzienlijk volume gewenst is en er voldoende vetweefsel beschikbaar is. Een (licht) hangende borst kan niet worden gecorrigeerd met lipofilling. Er is een bepaalde mate van onvoorspelbaarheid verbonden aan een borstvergroting. Het is bekend dat het werkt, maar hoeveel vetweefsel er overleeft, hangt af van veel factoren (leeftijd, kwaliteit van de weefsels, levensstijl, techniek, donorplaatsen, etc.). Lipofilling is (over het algemeen) minder geschikt als men met één ingreep een cupmaat meer wilt bekomen.

Volume
The volume of a prosthesis is expressed in cc. 150 cc is approximately equivalent to 1 cup size.
Basis and profile
The profile of a prosthesis refers to the projection. The base or width of the prosthesis plays an important role in the final result.
Body structure
The selection for a certain volume is also determined by your body structure. Everything must be in harmony.
Position of the prosthesis
A prosthesis is preferably placed in front of the muscle. In theory, this provides the most natural result.
Type prosthesis
Ergonomic prostheses take the shape of the breast depending on the posture. There is no longer a distinction between teardrop and round prostheses.

Lipofilling plays an important role: natural results, targeted treatment of specific aesthetic areas.
